Tatu's Swahili Translator from www.theislander.com on Vimeo.

‘Tatu’s Swahili Translator’ is a documentary that follows Freddy Ilanga –a Congolese surgeon who as a young man served as Che Guevara’s Swahili translator in the 1960s –on his emotional journey from Cuba back home to the Congo. Freddy’s unusual life story as a rebel youth, his time and relationship with Che Guevara, his mysterious coming to and formative years in revolutionary Cuba as well as his separation and long awaited re-encounter with his family are some of the issues in the film.
